The American
brigantine Carnegie. The brigantine was a 2-masted vessel,
square rigged on the fore mast, fore and aft rigged on the
main. The Carnegie was a research vessel used for
investigations into terrestrial magnetism. She is here shown
with her mainsail set and her square sails furled. National
